The Account Book of the O'Callaghan Estate Servants' Wages from 1824-1857 is now online through the Clare Past Forum at http://www.ourlibrary.ca/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6963.This book contains the names of over 140 servants who were hired by John O'Callaghan on Maryfort Estate during the 19th century, together with their job description, pay and date of discharge.  Some entries noted if a servant died or emigrated, and in some cases, where that servant emigrated to.  The book also contains information about servants’ ability to pay for land, where in some cases, their wages were used to offset the debt owed to O’Callaghan for their family’s…
